"Come to me, all
you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke
upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will
find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
(Matthew 11:28-30)
Do you ever feel tired, weak, and weary of the struggles
of life? Are you feeling insignificant and alone, and wondering who cares
and who will help you through another day? We all deal with issues that
tend to weigh us all down to some degree. But, in spite of them, God
offers us hope this very day. Whatever the reason for your need of spiritual
rest, God is inviting you to a place of rest for your weary soul. Rest
that is not found in anything or anyone else, but only in Him.
As humans, we have a tendency to look to other people and
places first and to use God as a last resort, but God is saying to us that He
is our first and only option to find true rest for our souls today. You
see, the truth is you are loved and special to God. He is the amazing creator
of everyone and everything on earth. There is no one like our God.
He is awesome and powerful, yet He loves you and me, and He wants to give
us the strength we need for whatever we are facing today.
We are reminded to, “Trust
in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all
your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs
3:5-6)
Most of us go through seasons when we feel weary and
discouraged. The prophet Isaiah (See Isaiah 40) urges us during those
times to look at this huge planet and all the stars in the vastness of heaven,
and remember who created it and who sustains it all. God is
mighty, and we can trust Him. He cares for each of us personally, and
when we rely on Him, He gives us new strength for the tasks he wants us to do.
In need of rest today for your weary soul? Jesus is the answer!
