Walking with Integrity

“Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God. We have done so not according to worldly wisdom but according to God's grace.”  (2 Corinthians 1:12)

Integrity is a fundamental pillar of Character.  The Psalmist speaks of a man, “...who keeps his oath even when it hurts...” (Psalm 15:4b)  In that statement, we have the basic definition of integrity, which is, standing by your words, particularly when it’s not convenient.

Nothing reveals the extent of God at work in your life more than integrity.  Integrity reveals God's love at work in you, and causes His love to shine out from your life.  Holiness begins with a commitment to integrity before God, before others, and before yourself as you look in the mirror.

Having integrity brings on holiness.  Being a person of integrity does not mean you need to be confrontational or hurtful in any way.  Integrity is the great insulator keeping the evil of lies away from relationships.  Integrity permits the awesome truth of God to prevail in every part of life.  Integrity keeps the heart pure and full of the presence of God.

The temptations of the world attack the heart of integrity.  However, the prayers of a humble person reduce temptation to nothing.  Integrity brings out the purity of your heart.  And living a life of integrity means when you see injustice you want to right the wrongs.

Walking in integrity is a very difficult choice.  We live in an imperfect world that seems to suggest that it’s foolishness to be honest and righteous.  All around us we encounter people who actually appear to be rewarded for being dishonest.  This is a real challenge for the man or woman who decides to walk in integrity.
