Why I Don’t Like Discussing the “End Times”



One discussion I have not spent much time on is the topic of eschatology; the study of the end times.  I admit that Bible prophecy is a fascinating subject, yet it is also very subjective.  There is quite a bit of mystery in the Word, and many differing views on this subject.  It is the one subject that you really cannot say someone is wrong, since it hasn’t happened yet.  While I do have personal views on the end times, my emphasis has always been on the Christian life now! Those things that we absolutely know for sure from God's Word, our personal daily walk, and the responsibilities we have as His children.

In light of the latest terrorist attacks in Europe and on the US, and the escalating problems in the Middle East, many people are seeing history, even Bible prophecy unfold before their eyes. If these events mean anything to you personally, this is the message they are screaming out.  There is no more time to play!  There is no more time to be apathetic about our faith!  And there is no more time to allow ourselves to be distracted by the enemy who uses division in the body, and our own personal weaknesses to keep us from serving God.

My friend, the battle cry has clearly sounded. The trumpet of warning is clearly being blown for all to hear.  The events that are unfolding in our nation, around the world, and right before our very eyes is God's way of saying, "Now my children, prepare yourselves and this world for the return of Christ!"  We must never lose sight of the big picture.  Jesus Christ is coming soon.  In the twinkling of an eye.  Are we really ready for that?  Is this world really ready for that?

One of my primary goals is to help you translate your faith in Christ into your daily, real world, life.  You see, the enemy's #1 weapon is to get us so caught up in our weaknesses and cares of this life, that we become virtually ineffective for service in God's army.  When he can get your focus on yourself instead of your service, he has won.  He has taken you out of the game.  That is why we must get a handle on our own lives, so that we can effectively minister to others.  We must rise above our problems, so that we can effectively help others rise above their problems.

In multi-level marketing organizations, the key to success is mobilizing people.  Helping them overcome their issues so that they can effectively help others be productive in their downlines.  That is the heart of success in that world.  For me personally, that is exactly what God has called me to do with my life for the Kingdom of God, and to fulfill His plan for my life.  It is time for the people of God to stand up, become bold, and share with this dying and lost world the message that there is hope and everlasting life through God's son Jesus Christ!

I love and care about each of you very much.  Let me simply say this.  Only God knows the hour, the minute, or the second of Christ's return.  Until then, He has given us very clear instructions that we are to be about His business until that glorious moment.  You do not have to be a Bible scholar to read passages (Matthew 24, 2 Timothy 3, 2 Peter 3) that tell us clearly we are in the last days.  His coming is very soon.  Now more than ever we need to get past our own problems, because God needs His children, all His children on the front lines.

Just like our brave men and women of the armed forces put their lives on the line daily in defense of our great nation, our God is asking each one in His army to do likewise.  This is not a video game.  The stakes are eternal life versus eternal damnation.  Too many of God's children are AWOL (Absent without leave) at this critical moment.  I pray today that you will hear His call to battle and understand that answering that call is not an option.  It is something each and every one of His children, His army, is required to do each day; to answer the call, and to fight the good fight of faith! 

These, my friend, are the last days!  And we have an opportunity unlike any other time to tell, and show, others that the same joy and peace that we radiate is a free gift, and can be received from a powerful God.  Yes, these are great times for Christians, even if we are in the last days.

How do we respond in times like these?

“Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-- put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” (Philippians 4:5-9)

Are We Willing to Pay the Cost?


The church stood silently by in Germany during WWII, and see where it got them.  Dietrich Bonhoeffer was one of the few that stood against the evils of the Third Reich.  His book, "The Cost of Discipleship" is a reminder of what happens when the church ignores the political reality going on around it out of fear.  Bonhoeffer was one man, who took a stand against the evil of his time, even unto death. 

Sadly, we have returned to those days, in our nation this time.  I see nowhere in scripture where we are told to stand by and be silent as the unborn are murdered, or where homosexuals and transgendered people are dragging down a new generation of youth into their world of sexual confusion and pain.  In what used to be the greatest nation on earth, a nation unique in the history of mankind, which offered people the hope of a better life, we have now created an environment where more and more are being dragged into and trapped in a life of poverty, instead of helping them to lift themselves up and out. 

Jesus calls us to be "World Changers," yes, through the Gospel which changes hearts and teaches love for one another.  Yet, what do you do when you love someone?  Do you stand by as they starve, or are beaten, or robbed?  Is that what Jesus meant by "Love your neighbors?" 

Do we stand by as our nation is brought to its knees through an ever increasingly immoral government, and a society caught up in its own slowly boiling pot of selfishness, immorality, and apathy?  No!  I pray God would never find me only concerned for my own well-being, hiding behind lovely sounding platitudes that tickle the ears of men as we play our fiddles and watch Rome burn. Never! 

I will stand for freedom for my fellow man, and I will stand for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Each of you reading today, God has placed you here for a time such as this.  And what we must ask ourselves is this, not what would this man or that church have us do, but what would Jesus Christ have us do? 

We may not like what we hear, but our discipleship has a cost.  The question is, are We willing to pay the cost?   

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me will find it.” (Matthew 16:24-25)
